Samenvatting

In this essay the author treats the debate in the Netherlands about Islam, the Arab Spring and the ideology of the populist Party For Freedom. In the treatment of these subjects he goes as well into his vicissitudes as opinion maker.

    Jan Jaap de Ruiter (1959) is als arabist en Universitair Docent verbonden aan Tilburg University. Hij publiceert zowel over de Arabische taal als over de islam en is een actief deelnemer aan het debat in Nederland en daarbuiten over de positie van islam en moslims in de samenleving.
